Fun Fact:  I enjoy hiking, playing tennis & pickleball, kayaking, fishing, exploring new places, and reading. The first (paying) job that I loved was as a Hamilton County (Ohio) Park Naturalist.

Research Associate II

Dr. Grace Pietsch, [email protected]

Responsibilities & Expertise: Grace shares time as lab and nursery space coordinator for Dr. Bill Klingeman and Dr. Amy Fulcher. She oversees day-to-day operations in the lab and urban nursery and landscape research facility. Grace is involved in everything from propagating cuttings, maintaining research plants, and field work to experimental design, Koch’s postulate testing, data collection and analysis, report and paper writing. She also has enhanced her molecular biology skill set and has trained graduate and undergraduate students in DNA extraction, use of lab equipment, and Best Practices for the lab.

Fun Fact: When not working, I spend my time working in my yard and garden, learning karate (someday I will be a blackbelt!), refinishing furniture & remodeling my house, hiking, and grilling out. Before UT, I  spent several years as a grower for a west coast seed company. I have studied a but about annual and perennial flowers and am now (re)learning my trees and shrubs.
